PCA sponsors Continuing Education Unit (CEU) programs and activities to help members meet State and County two-year CEU License requirements.

if you are interested in developing new courses to teach at the PCA; we will be more than happy to complete all of the necessary paperwork for the State and Miami-Dade county approval for our continuing education courses. All we need is the following information.

The course syllabus which must contain the following components:

Course Description: The course must relate to the general business skills or the technical skills required of certificate holders or registrants.

Number of Classroom Hours: Each course offering must specify the total number of classroom hours required for continuing education credit.

Overall Goal of the Course: The overall goal of the course must relate to improvement in the quality of the contractor’s performance and the construction industry.

Specific Behavioral (Performance) Objectives: The specific behavioral objectives should state what the contractor should be able to demonstrate when he/she has successfully completed the course. It describes the intended performance clearly enough to preclude misinterpretation.

Method of Presentation: The method of presentation must describe how the course content will be presented i.e. – lecture, discussion, multimedia presentations, etc.

Method of Evaluation: The evaluation must describe the technique that will be used to achieve the objectives of the course.

Qualification of Instructors: Instructors assigned to teach the course must meet one of the following criteria:

A four year college degree or graduate degree

A State Certified or Registered contractor with at least 5 years of construction experience in their technical area of licensure.

A high school diploma and holder of a Florida Teaching Certificate.

List any and all experience teaching, conducting or coordinating instructional and/or continuing education classes on the Instructor’s resume.

We have available at our facility a chalk board, large-screen-TV videotape system, overhead projector and microphone system for presentation use.
