Medical Gas Certification

ASSE 6010 Medical Gas System Installer - Brazer Training Course

Performance Testing Record
In 2000 it became law in Florida that Medical Gas Certification was a requirement for medical gas installers.  Plumbing contractors in Florida who install or repair these life safety systems and equipment must be certified by an approved training provider that is certified by the CILB.   Certified installers shall maintain their certification by showing proof of brazing performance every 6 months. The Plumbing Contractors Association has developed a medical gas training courses compliant with ASSE 6000 and NFPA 99 designed to properly train and certify individuals that are involved with medical gas system operation, design, installation, repair, and service. E

This 32-hour course is designed to take an experienced plumber and teach them the information necessary to install medical gas and vacuum pipeline systems in human health care occupancies, including hospitals, office-based occupancies, nursing homes, dental facilities and outpatient care facilities.  Topics include all facets of equipment such as air compressors, vacuum pumps, valving and hangers, and testing are covered as well as a section on the special brazing requirements for medical gas and vacuum tubing. Practical training is included. Topics also include the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).  NFPA 99 is the textbook included.

The student should be working as a competent plumber working for a certified plumbing company or active in an apprentice program for at least four years. At the completion of the course, there is a standardized written examination as well as a brazing practical in which students will be required to braze vertical and horizontal full-penetration joints on 1-1/2" tubing.  The brazing coupons will be tested by an proctor.  This course follows the requirements of the American Society of Sanitary Engineering ASSE 6010 professional qualification standard for Medical Gas Systems Installers.

The courses are taught at our training facility in Miami. Please contact us for pricing on any medical gas training needs you may have. Students will learn brazing skills using oxygen, acetylene torches with rosebud tips while purging the system with Nitrogen.  Learning brazing skills is one of the most important skills one must possess when installing medical gas and vacuum systems.

We are certified through the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board #0000987 Course #0610769
